Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts, 2011, Domaine Bertagna
There is a trace of reduction to the smoky and mildly woody nose and while the underlying fruit appears to be ripe that is not a certainty.
There is good volume and plenty of spice character to the delicious and vibrant medium-bodied flavors that possess a seductively textured mouth feel, all wrapped in a lightly mineral-driven, powerful and robust finish.
This is a big wine in the context of the appellation with plenty of muscle and while it's somewhat youthfully austere today I like the upside development potential.
Note that my score assumes the wood eventually integrates as I found it borderline bothersome at present.
