Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru Aux Guettes, 2013, Domaine Pavelot
Note: from a large 1.5 ha holding
A somber but agreeably fresh nose grudgingly reveals notes of various dark berries, especially currant and black cherry, along with plenty of earth, underbrush and sauvage characters.
There is excellent volume to the lush and generously proportioned medium-bodied flavors that displays the typical youthful austerity of a classic Guettes, all wrapped in a mineral-inflected, lingering and balanced finish.
I very much like the depth and persistence though note that this will definitely require a few years of bottle age.
