Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Referts, 2011, Domaine Etienne Sauzet
Note: 35+ year old vines planted in much deeper soil interspersed with lots of gravel and aged in 33% new wood
This is also markedly ripe though with a different fruit profile as here it is more white than yellow with its aromas of pear liqueur, acacia, lemon and a hint of tangerine.
There is also excellent volume and solid mid-palate concentration to the rich, voluminous and palate coating flavors that possess a sophisticated mouth feel on the balanced and impressively persistent finish where a touch of pain grillé surfaces.
