Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos Des Forêts, 2011, Domaine De L'Arlot
Note: from an enormous 7.5 ha parcel of vines planted in the early 1950s
A brooding but notably ripe nose of dark cherry and pungent earth aromas slides gracefully into strikingly rich and tautly muscular big-bodied flavors that possess praiseworthy concentration.
There is plenty of underlying tension and energy to the mouth coating and very serious finish that displays only a touch of rusticity. This is potentially outstanding but note that it will, as is usually the case, require plenty of bottle age.
