Meursault, 2012, Domaine Jean Phillippe Fichet
Bright medium yellow-straw. Demonstrative nose offers scents of ginger, quinine, anise, licorice and wild herbs: more spicy than fruity. Dense, tactile and pliant, with dry, chewy flavors of apple, pear and spicy oak, along with a riper suggestion of fresh apricot.
This very sexy wine has the sweetness to give it early appeal and the density to deepen in bottle for several years. In a blind flight of Fichet's 2012s, this basic village offering was an outperformer.
