Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, 2010, Domaine Bertagna
Note: from vines situated by the abandoned tower, just above the Château de la Tour
A brooding but not completely inexpressive nose grudgingly offers up macerated fruit notes of red berry fruit liqueur, warm earth and an interesting hint of spiced plum.
There is good mid-palate concentrated and detail to the broad-shouldered medium weight plus flavors that a suave yet serious mouth feel, all wrapped in a distinctly austere and persistent finish.
This is a big but not bruising Clos de Vougeot that will need at least 10 years to arrive at its peak and 12 would be better.
