Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Vergers Clos St. Marc, 2010, Domaine Jean-Marc Pillot
Very pale color. Pure, high-pitched aromas of white peach and brown spices. The palate melds superb sweetness and outstanding energy, but today the wine's piquant flavors of underripe pineapple, spices and powdered stone are extremely shy. But this wine boasts great density and class and conveys an impression of weightlessness.
Finishes with great echoing, vibrating length. It's hard to imagine premier cru much better than this. Pillot notes that the acidity here is 4.5 grams per liter, and yet he picked this fruit toward the end of his harvest.
