Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets, 2012, Domaine Morey Coffinet
Note: from vines planted in 1983
A pungent nose features some residual post-bottling sulfur and wood toast notes that fight somewhat with the ripe aromas of dried apricot, white peach and floral scents.
The seductively textured medium-bodied flavors possess plenty of mineral character that continues onto the extract-rich, intense and powerful finish that stays light on its feet thanks to the noticeable citrus elements.
There is excellent persistence if only average depth but if this can add more complexity then my score may be overly conservative.
